How to Tie a Scarf On Your Head

Hi Folks!

So in this post we are going to focus in our head. Is unbelievable how fashion is to wear scarfs in our head. My inspiration and favorite style is from the Olsen sisters and they are often wearing headscarves and I personally find extremely charming! And this post will teach you how to successfully tie a scarf on your head.

Instructions:
1- Begin by making sure that your hair is combed back. If you already have straight hair, you're all set. However, if you have thick, curly hair, pull it back into a low ponytail.

  • 2- Take the scarf and completely unfold it. Lay it out on a flat surface, such as a vanity table or your bed.
  • 3- The scarf should be a long rectangle. You want the scarf to appear like a long headband, and to do this you have two folding options
4-The first folding option is to fold the scarf lengthwise in half, and then in half again

5-The second folding option is to pick up an end of the unfolded scarf, and run your free hand lengthwise through, bunch up the fabric in almost an accordion pattern.

6- Once you have folded the scarf in the way that you'd like, look in the mirror and place the scarf just behind your bangs, or the frontal crown of your head, behind your ears.

7- Take the loose ends of the scarf and tie them together at the base of your neck--either in a bow, or in a double knot, leaving the ends longer and trailing down your back.

8- Take some hair pins and place them intermittently around where the scarf meets your scalp line to keep the scarf in place.

Be Creative

Hey there! Here we go again ...

Are you getting tired of your old purse(?) Well we all know this moments... Time to make a decision.

Here are several options. You can:

1- Keep your bag as it is... and save money. Not very exciting
2- Get a new bag and forget about money saving. Not money wise
3- Find an exciting + money wise option

Let's talk about option #3 which obviously sounds like the best one to many of us. What is you could  re vamp, zest up and at the same time customize your purse without spending a dime ?

To start with, grab your favorite scarf/ scarves and your favorite purse. Then think about your day:
-will you hold you bag  all day long?
-Will you have to put it on the ground?
-Do you intend to go shopping with elegance?
- Will you attend and event?
In any case, time has become to dress up your bag. Below are a few ideas:

On all these photos, I am using silk scarves 36"x 36" or 30"x 30" which I fold either in a short band or a long ribbon before tying them with a large square knot or a bow. Remember that straps, buckles, zips, (viva Longchamp and Lancel) are perfect places to tie a scarf.

                                  Short band around one handle

30" x 30" Scarf pulled through the front buckle and tied with a bow.

Wrap around style

One short scarf

If you are looking for a bold look, you also have the option to totally wrap your purse in a scarf. This style will turn any old handbag  into a stunning accessory: Place you handbag at the center of your scarf. Grab the first two tips and tie them at the bottom of the handles. Do the same with the two other tips. No worries: you  will still be able to access the (probably numerous) things which are inside your bag and that - like many other women- you need several times a days

Total wrap. New look purse.

If you like the total scarf-bag look, you may also want to try to turn a scarf into a bag. This old tradition an art in Japan. It is called "Furoshiki". The video bellow will show you how easily do it. All you need is a pretty large scarf ... and a little training...

How do you customize your purses? Are you ready for the "Furoshiki" art? I'd love to hear from you.
