Scarves All Over The World

Cachecol, Scarf, Sciarpa, Echarpe, Schal... Many words in different languages with the same meaning and function!
Do you like travelling? Are you interested in other cultures? Don't you think is fascinating  and enriching to discover countries we are not familiar with? Thanks to fast and modern ways to travel, thanks to internet too, the planet seems a little bit smaller (!) everyday... It's never been so easy to open your mind and your eyes to other cultures!
Please join me for a quick but intense tour around the world.

Our first stop is Africa. Women there have a real talent for wrapping headscarves - So much talent that more and more western designers find inspiration in these multiple and amazing ways they can tie a headscarf.
African women believe that if they use the headscarf it is going to protect themselves of evil spirits. And also because it looks nice!!! The more skills they show in tying a scarf, the more fulfilled and proud they are.

In North Africa and Middle East, a scarf remains a strong a Islamic symbol. Let's remember though that in and around the Arabic Peninsula, men wear scarves too. Called the " keffieh" it was originally worn to protect from the sun and sand storms . Since 1940's it has become a political symbol for the Palestinians.

When the "Keffieh" inspires Balenciaga.

Other continent, other traditions and other style: In South America, a country is famous for it shoulder scarves: here is Bolivia! Colored like a rainbow, a poncho - As also called " Manta" is part of the traditional men's and women's costume. Made in Alpaca, it protects shoulders from the cold. Its colors and pattern also  tell about the social class its owner belongs to.

Finally France and England, wearing a silk square scarf has no meaning other than being elegant and Fashionable!!!

Well, I also found another video that shows ways that you can wear some scarf in your short hair (if you have)

 I hope you guys enjoy!!!

Starting to know you Folks!

Hey there!
My name is Nicole Hoffmann (but you can call me Nick). I'm 18 years old and I'm from the warm country BRAZIL!
In the beginning of this year (2013) I decided that I wanted to visit a new country and learn a new language and culture.
Now I'm studying a Victoria High School (Vic High) in Victoria BC, Canada. I had the luck of taking this amazing class FASHION DESIGN and in this moment we are having this challenge: Do your own Fashion Blog!!! (Isn't that awesome?!?)
Then I got me thinking:" what should I write about?"  I started thinking about my own clothing, what I brought to Canada, so  I asked myself : What am I always wearing?  What is my favorite accessory?
Then my theme came into my mind: Scarves!!!
So here we go explore this cute accessory!!!
     I hope you enjoy :)
